GOOD COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE PUBLIC SECTOR - 13/08/2007
Keith Elliott, PMA's chairman, spoke at the public sector's Good Communications Awards last week at the Marriott Hotel, London. Public sector communications departments attended in force.
Keith's talk covered 'What is good communication .... will text-speak ever become acceptable in print?' The conference took place during the day with an awards dinner in the evening. Awards were presented to the London Borough of Camden who were voted local authority of the year by the conference audience. They were also awarded the local authority communications team of the year in the public relations sector. The internal communications award went to Manchester City Council, and the government to citizen communications award went to the Hillingdon school governor campaign. Hambledon District Council won the mixed media campaign. PMA sponsored the council publication of the year and this was awarded to East Riding News. The Londoner newspaper won the journalism award for a council publication. Westminster City Council was awarded print innovation of the year, and Around Ealing won the award for design of a council publication.
